¿Por qué deberías conocer tu tipo de sangre?

La sangre fue clasificada en 1901 por un médico austriaco conocido como Karl Landsteiner. Mezcló sangre de diferentes personas y encontró compatibilidades entre algunas de ellas, mientras que en otras no. Fue el creador del tipo de sangre: sistema AB0.

Hoy en día, es importante conocer cada grupo sanguíneo, sobre todo en situaciones de emergencia y accidentes. Asimismo, también es conveniente saber este dato, tanto para prevenir como para diagnosticar y tratar una amplia variedad de enfermedades.

¿Cuáles son los grupos sanguíneos?

Los tipos de sangre están determinados, sobre todo, por proteínas que se encuentran en la superficie de las células, llamados antígenos. Estos pueden causar una respuesta del sistema inmunitario ante cualquier grupo sanguíneo que no sea compatible, por medio de anticuerpos.

Se vio que existían dos antígenos (A y B) en la pared celular, además de contener también anticuerpos en el plasma (Anti-A y Anti-B.), siendo el plasma el contenido de la sangre sin tener en cuenta las células. De esta manera, se establecieron 4 tipos principales, que incluyen:

  • A
  • B
  • AB
  • 0

Además, se debe tener en cuenta otra proteína de la superficie de las células, que también va a formar parte de los grupos sanguíneos: el factor Rh . Existen los siguientes:

  • Rh positivo. Presentan la proteína en sus células.
  • Rh negativo. No la presentan.
¿Cuáles son los grupos sanguíneos?
Se establecieron 4 tipos de sangre: A, B, AB y O. Además, también se determinó que puede ser de Rh positivo o negativo.

¿Cuál es la importancia de conocer el tipo de sangre?

Por lo general, las personas conocen sobre los grupos de sangre solo para alguna causa traumática, transfusiones de sangre, accidentes, etcétera. Pero, más allá de esto, es conveniente saber que es bueno informarse sobre estos temas para poder evitar, controlar y tratar infinidad de afecciones que se ven influidas por las proteínas del organismo

Prevención, tratamiento y control de enfermedades

  • Donar sangre.
  • Recibir transfusiones de sangre en situaciones de emergencia.
  • Trasplantes de órganos
  • Prevenir o controlar enfermedades cardíacas. El grupo AB tiene mayor riesgo de sufrirlas. El riesgo más bajo lo tienen las personas del grupo O.
  • Evitar la hipercolesterolemia. Las personas con grupo A presentan cifras más altas de colesterol.
  • Detectar predisposición a trombosis venosa profunda. Existe mayor riesgo genético en grupos A, B y AB.
  • Vigilar la tendencia a ciertos tipos de cáncer. Por ejemplo, el grupo A y su relación con el cáncer de estómago.
  • Nutrirse de manera correcta.  Se cree que las personas con sangre tipo 0 deben aumentar su ingesta en alimentos proteicos.
  • Conocer la predisposición de acumulación de grasa (también relacionada con el riesgo cardiovascular). Personas del grupo A digieren mejor los carbohidratos y acumulan menos grasa abdominal , al contrario que los del grupo 0.
  • Conocer las causas del estrés. Las personas del grupo A producen, en mayor medida, cortisol (hormona del estrés) y las del grupo 0 tienen mayores niveles de adrenalina.
  • Saber que tipo de ejercicio es recomendable. Por ejemplo, se dice que las del grupo A deberían, debido al estrés, hacer ejercicios relajantes.
  • Controlar y tratar problemas en la reproducción. Existe más tasa de esterilidad en mujeres del grupo O.
  • Además, existe una incompatibilidad de Rh en embarazos con madre (Rh negativo) e hijo (Rh positivo). Esto puede derivar a que, sobre todo a partir del segundo embarazo, la mujer dañe al feto creando anticuerpos que destruyen las células del feto y puede resultar mortal para el futuro bebé.
Prevención, tratamiento y control de enfermedades
Conocer el tipo de sangre no solo es clave para atender emergencias, sino para saber cómo intervenir ante ciertas enfermedades. Incluso, podría ser clave para la nutrición.

Como se ha podido observar, existe información proporcionada por los grupos sanguíneos que resulta clave para controlar el estado de salud desde muchos aspectos. Incluso, saber este dato es clave para periodos como el embarazo.

Por este motivo, los médicos suelen establecer el tipo de sangre antes de iniciar algún tratamiento. Además, es un dato relevante en situaciones de emergencia donde son necesarias las transfusiones.
