Eduardo López, uno de los infectólogos más respetados por el Gobierno de la Nación y que forma parte del grupo de profesionales asesores ante el coronavirus Covid-19, anunció que el pico de contagios  en la pandemia se dará a mediados de julio, mes que será “bisagra” en cuanto a la cantidad de camas de terapia intensiva que serán ocupadas por infectados.

En diálogo con el programa Salvemos Kamchatka, de FM La Patriada, el especialista alertó que la ocupación actual se encuentra en “un 60%” y que, dada la evolución epidemiológica del nuevo virus, el punto máximo de contagios estará “hacia la segunda quincena de julio, el 15 o 16”.

Según el estudio realizado por investigadores británicos, algunos pacientes no experimentaron síntomas respiratorios graves y el trastorno neurológico fue el primero y principal síntoma.

Frente a este futuro contexto, el jefe del Departamento de Medicina del hospital de niños Ricardo Gutiérrez advirtió que “lo más preocupante son los geriátricos, porque la mayoría de estos adultos mayores van a terapia intensiva”, e insistió en que “hay que trabajar muy fuerte para que se cumplan los protocolos en los geriátricos”.

“Los picos de los países en que ocurrieron no bajan de un día para otro, demoran entre 7 u 8 días. No sé qué va a pasar después del 17. Va a depender de cuanto se sature el sistema”, subrayó.

Al respecto, consideró que “el AMBA hay que tomarlo como un todo”, aunque advirtió que “algunos datos puntuales podrían flexibilizarse. No creo que abrir un negocio en Villa Devoto impacte en el conurbano”.

Consultado sobre el crecimiento en el número de fallecimientos, opinó que “las muertes tienen un mecanismo totalmente diferentes. La muerte de hoy, es una arrastre de 20 días antes, son individuos que llevan muchos días en terapia”.

A su vez, declaró que “toda muerte es una catástrofe. Si en 10 días ese número es sostenido, ya es alarmante”. Sin embargo, aseveró que “la tasa de letalidad en Argentina es baja respecto del resto del mundo”.

Por último, señaló que “el trabajo de todo el equipo de salud es fenomenal. En el AMBA se está trabajando a pleno, hay que felicitar a todos los equipos de salud”.

Y concluyó: “tengo la sensación de que julio va a ser un mes duro, donde la flexibilización va a ser lenta. Y creo que en agosto vamos a empezar a flexibilizar”.
