La acidez estomacal es una molestia muy desagradable que puede traer consecuencias graves para nuestro cuerpo. La adopción de algunos buenos hábitos puede ayudarnos a prevenirla.

¿Te ha pasado que después de comer en tu estómago aparece una sensación de ardor e incomodidad? A este malestar se le conoce como acidez estomacal. Se produce tras comer en grandes cantidades o al consumir alimentos picantes o grasos.

Si en tu día a día es muy constante, puede que adquirir estos hábitos te ayuden a calmar este inconveniente. Ahora bien, si lo síntomas persisten es conveniente buscar la asesoría de un profesional en el área.

¿Qué es la acidez estomacal?

La acidez en el estómago es resultado de la enfermedad por reflujo gastroesofágico.  Se presenta cuando hay retorno del reflujo  de los alimentos desde el estómago hasta el esófago. Esto genera una sensación de ardor y dolor de pecho, ya que asciende desde el estómago. Si una persona padece con frecuencia de ardor o reflujo ácido, al menos dos veces por semana, sufre de acidez estomacal.

¿Cuáles son las principales causantes del reflujo gástrico?

La acidez estomacal se produce como consecuencia del ascenso de los jugos gástricos al esófago.

Uno de los factores más comunes del reflujo son los alimentos ácidos. Entre estos encontramos:

  • Tomate.
  • Frutas cítricas como el limón.
  • Alimentos picantes.

También algunos hábitos como el consumo de bebidas alcohólicas y el tabaco pueden desarrollar la acidez estomacal. Otras causas pueden ser la diabetes y el asma. Asimismo, al hacer presión muy fuerte sobre el abdomen, el esfínter esofágico inferior puede permitir que el reflujo de los alimentos vuelva al esófago. Esto ocasiona el ardor estomacal e incluso de garganta, ya que el reflujo puede llegar hasta la boca. Por esta razón algunas personas con sobrepeso o mujeres embarazadas sufren de acidez estomacal.

De igual modo, algunos medicamentos pueden influir en esta situación:

  • Anticolinérgicos, betabloqueadores, progestágeno y teofilina.
  • Antidepresivos tricíclicos.
  • Algunos sedantes para la ansiedad.

Síntomas más comunes

Debido a este malestar, el ácido que se encuentra en el estómago refluye hacia el esófago causando dolor y ardor. Puede sentirse como un espasmo o como un dolor agudo detrás de esternón. Algunas personas perciben este dolor como si fuera un ataque cardíaco.

El ardor estomacal puede extenderse hasta el pecho y parte de la garganta , causando un sabor amargo que se extiende hasta el paladar. En ciertas ocasiones, cuando el ácido llega cerca de la laringe, puede provocar tos y carraspera en los pacientes. Cuando se trata de un problema de acidez severo, incluso se puede deteriorar el esmalte dental.

7 hábitos para evitar la acidez en el estómago

Para evitar la acidez estomacal, lo primero que debes hacer es visitar a tu médico para conocer  la gravedad del problema. Una vez que sepas esto, podrás adquirir hábitos que proporcionen mejorías y alivien el ardor tanto como sea posible. Es importante contar con el apoyo de tu médico para encontrar la mejor solución.

Debes saber que el estilo tu estilo de vida puede ayudar a evitar y a aliviar los síntomas más molestos causados por esta enfermedad y todas sus variantes. Dicho esto, te presentamos algunos hábitos que te pueden ayudar.

1. Comer despacio

Comer adecuadamente los alimentos puede ayudar a que el reflujo ácido del estómago se mantenga bajo. Para esto, es importante masticar muy bien los alimentos. Así se garantiza su descomposición rápida, simple y que la digestión tarde menos. Si esto se realiza adecuadamente, el estómago no devolverá ácido ni se agravará el problema.

2. Evita los desencadenantes

Hay muchos alimentos que desencadenan el ardor en el estómago. Sobre todo algunas bebidas, como las que contienen cafeína, las gaseosas, jugos cítricos y alcohol. Hacerlas a un lado evitará muchos malestares. En ese sentido, debes identificar los que te generan este malestar y regular su consumo.

3. Comer con regularidad

Para aliviar la acidez estomacal, es necesario controlar los horarios de las comidas, así como la cantidad de las porciones. Trata de dividir bien tus alimentos, olvídate de las comidas muy pesadas y en cambio come platos pequeños con más frecuencia.

4. Duerme bien

Un hábito que puede derivar en molestias estomacales a las personas que sufren de reflujo es dormir de forma inadecuada. La posición en la que duermes puede causar presión en el abdomen y causar que el reflujo ácido escape. Para evitarlo, procura no dormir del lado derecho. Algunos especialistas recomiendan reposar de espaldas o recostarse hacia el lado izquierdo.

5. Mantén un peso saludable

El exceso de peso corporal puede ocasionar muchos problemas de salud. Entre los más comunes están los malestares cardiovasculares y otros problemas como el reflujo ácido. Esto se debe a que la grasa acumulada en el vientre hace presión contra el estómago y causa que el ácido se mueva hacia el esófago; al mismo tiempo provoca que la digestión sea más lenta.

6. No fumar

7. Evita los medicamentos de venta libre

No caigas en el error de tomar medicamentos sin receta para aliviar las dolencias o síntomas del malestar estomacal. Es importante que, antes, visites al médico para conocer el verdadero causante del problema. De esa manera obtendrás el diagnóstico y la prescripción adecuada. A largo plazo los medicamentos de venta libre pueden ser contraproducentes para la salud.
